The Space Security programme at the Centre for Defence and International Security Studies is unique, being the only programme of its kind in the U.K. Satellites play an increasingly ubiquitous role in all forms of military operations, and in all facets of modern security. Despite the growing role of satellites, there has been little strategic analysis from a UK and European perspective. The aim of the Space Security programme is to address this deficit by providing a comprehensive information resource on all space security and military space issues, and to act as a catalyst for informed debate on the subject.  (read more)

There’s No Such Thing As “Space Security”

By John B. Sheldon

Ref: Space News - 13/08/07

The Chinese anti-satellite (A-Sat) test in January has produced countless calls for ways and means to strengthen and achieve “space security.” The advocates for space security range from the well-intentioned through to the disingenuous, but all have one thing in common: the state of affairs they wish to bring about can not exist so long as insecurity reigns on Earth.
