As part of its commitment to develop debate about the implications of the new security environment, The New Security Programme has arranged a programme of events and conferences, which will bring together leading figures from international business, government and academia. The events will focus on some of the major security issues affecting government, business and civil society.

The New Security Programme's programme of conferences in 2005 / 06 includes:

  • 'Procurement Implications of the New Security Environment' - The New Security Forum in the Baltic and Eastern Europe. A major conference on business and security issues, focussing on new procurement requirements and solutions. Jurmala, Latvia, 29 June - 1 July 2005.
  • 'Culture and Security: Protecting the World's Heritage.' A conference on the importance of culture in the security context and the protection of cultural, intellectual and research assets. Florence, Italy, 7 - 9 September 2005.
  • 'Energy Security Technology.' An international forum on the development of technology to protect the world's critical energy infrastructure, involving leading figures from the energy industries, governments and international organisations. Prague, Czech Republic, 3 - 5 November 2005.
  • 'E-Learning for Defence and Security.' A high-level forum on 'E-learning for Defence and Security', which will be held at 'Online-Educa', Europe's largest online education conference. The Forum will bring leading industry experts and academics together with senior military, security and government decision-makers for an in-depth discussion of the importance of e-learning for modern defence and security.
    29th-30th November 2005 - Berlin
  • 'Security of Tourism and Major Events.' A conference on protecting the world's increasingly vulnerable tourism industry and securing major events, such as the Olympic Games. Spring 2006.
  • 'Africa: Emerging Threats and New Solutions' - The New Security Forum in Africa. A major forum on African security issues, focussing on emerging threats and the development of new solutions. Autumn 2006.

In addition, The New Security Programme arranges a programme of seminars, discussion dinners and meetings on a range of topics. These are sometimes co-hosted by international partner organisations with which The New Security Programme is linked. Recent events included a dinner discussion, co-hosted by the French High Committee for Civil Defence, on 'improving security cooperation' between senior security directors of major British and French companies. The dinner resulted in the establishment of an Anglo-French Business and Security Working Group.

The New Security Programme will also co-host a series of discussions about emerging new security issues with New York University's Center for Catastrophe Preparedness and Response. The first meeting, 'Roundtable at NYU: The International Homeland Security Coordination Council,' will take place in August 2005.
